Enjoy the beauty of Lake Constance on a magical choral adventure.Lake Constance is situated beween Germany, Austria and Switzerland and is a region particularly known for its mild climate. With a population of around 80,000, the historical town of Constance is the largest town on Lake Constance. The old town of Constance has remained almost unchanged since the Middle Ages but it is the town's unique location on the shores of Lake Constance and the River Rhine, and its proximity to Switzerland, Austria and Liechtenstein, which make Constance an ideal choral destination and touring base for excursions in the surrounding region.
Around Lake Constance you can find many beautiful and old small towns with half-timbered houses. Choirs will have the opportunity to visit the the town of Bregenz, located on the Austrian Bodensee close to the four-border corner of Germany, Switzerland and Liechtenstein. Today, Bregenz is a major tourist destination and is home to around 27,000 people. The Upper town district is the oldest, with buildings dating from 13th through to the 16th century and in this part of town you will still find parts of the original fortifying town walls. The Martin's Tower is the landmark of Bregenz, a building with a late Roman core and mainly baroque style architecture. Another further impressive building is the gothic parish church of St. Gall, with a Roman-Romanesque foundation dating from before 1380 and a Baroque altar. In July and August each year, the Lake plays host to the Bregenz festival when an opera stage surfaces on the lake.
During this choral trip, choirs will have the opportunity of performing during a church service and also of attending a concert on the island "Mainau".
