This romantic city was the setting to Shakespeare's classic love story, Romeo and Juliet. As you walk along the cobblestone streets and under the magnificent balconies, you cannot help feeling Verona's passionate aura. Rich with tradition, this lovely city is the perfect choral destination.
Throughout Verona, there is a beautiful harmony between the modern architecture and ancient structures left behind by its people over the centuries. This 3 day festival is held in the Teatro Nuovo, where choirs have a maximum of twenty minutes to perform their chosen pieces, judged by seven internationally acclaimed adjudicators. The highlight of this festival is undoubtedly the opportunity to perform at the city's Roman Arena, the third largest in Europe.
After the awards ceremony all choirs join together in a celebratory closing piece.
Choirs choose to compete in one of four categories:
1. Church and/or secular music without compulsory composition
2. Church and/or secular music with compulsory composition
3. Folk songs
4. Jazz, Pop, Swing, Blues etc.
